Modular Motion System
Motion Branding
2024
In collaboration with FILA Europe and FH Potsdam, I designed a modular motion identity concept for the sub-brand CROSS COURT. The system was developed to scale across formats and media, allowing elements to loop, tile, and recombine while maintaining a consistent visual language.
Building on the existing CROSS COURT logo, colors and Helvetica Neue LT as the house typeface, I created motion behaviors for both the CROSS COURT and FILA logos. The FILA logo animation draws on the acceleration and rhythm of a tennis serve, translating the dynamics of racket sports into abstract depiction. The motion key visual is based on rounded brand forms that oscillate horizontally, referencing the rhythmic negotiation between impact and response of sports such as tennis and padel. Shapes alternate between default and stretched states, creating a visual tension and a recognizable motion signature. A Morse-code-based timing system subtly structures the animation variations, providing an internal logic that ensures consistency across applications.
