Speculative Design
Research, Graphic & Generative Design
2022

“If acceleration is the problem, then resonance might be the solution.” That is the first sentence in Hartmut Rosa’s Resonance. In his sociology of our relationships to the world, Rosa examines the relentless growth compulsion of postmodern societies and our relationship with the world. The project's intent is to distill central ideas and concepts from Rosa’s work and highlight them through design. Each poster presents selected excerpts along with a visual abstraction of a core concept, which can be influenced and co-shaped by viewers. The visual and interactive components of the project were implemented with TouchDesigner, a node-based visual programming language for creating real-time interactive multimedia content. This project takes a speculative design approach to interactive graphic design, serving as an experimental exploration of viable solutions.
